Fun yet frustrating.
It was a treat to play even though it lagged a bit for me.
I loved the various enemies with different flight patterns.
The level up and down was a thoughtful addition.
The backgrounds and music created a pleasant atmosphere.
Having said that, the game is almost impossible.
It's hard enough to reach the first boss, let alone beat him. And don't even think about reaching the other bosses.
I don't see why you need 9 MB for a game like this. You should bring it down to 5 MB at least.

Good job on this. I hope to see more soon.

Colorvade responds:

Glad you liked it and sorry it lagged for you, I took a lot of measures to try and prevent that. Difficulty seems to be many people's main complaint, so I've added in a continue system and made some other tweaks. As for the file size, I was able to bring it down a fair amount by changing the bit rate of the songs.

Not bad at all.
The emotions of the hero were the strong point of this game, everything else was below average.
They weren't exactly deep, just a quick re-run of all the art games in the past.
This seemed familiar to " The Company of Myself"
But still you got across whatever you had thought of.

I was expecting more of the mirror image levels.
The controls were really bothersome, the character movement was below par.
The blocks don't slide smoothly and keep getting stuck everywhere. Even a little push by mistake and you need to restart.
You should have assigned 'R' as the restart key ( it's a common convention) instead of opening the menu every time.
The character snags when you try to move along a wall.

You should make a much better and longer version of this.
Maybe some four mirror image levels. That would be disorientating and fun !
Good luck.

Greydient responds:

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I added the restart button and possibly fixed the box collision issues (hopefully?)

Very intelligent puzzle game.
It seems childish at first sight but it's incredibly hard and requires a lot of concentration.
Keeping everything minimal was a good idea, it avoids distractions.
This game is best played in many short sessions as long ones tend to make your head hurt.

Many times, the snap-fit of the pieces doesn't work correctly and I have to drag it into place again from the bottom. I know it doesn't seem like a huge problem but considering you have to make a hundred moves in a puzzle, it is.
The puzzle packs were oddly arranged. The nature pack was more difficult than heroes and the transport pack was the easiest of all. The patterns pack however was insanely hard. I had to use external help for that.
Once you use a hint for a level and then return to the menu without solving it, the hint is not restored.
The half-solution isn't saved either.

All in all, a great puzzle game that will require all your brain power.
I hope to see more packs soon.

Really nice game.
The visuals and music are amazing.
I really hope you can apply this to a point and click game like Alice is Dead.

The game is simple but requires loads of precision and timing, and I'm not good at that stuff.
Still I managed a bronze medal.
I suppose an easy way to score points is to get the lanterns to snag between the tail and the body of the big fish but also risky as you could lose the entire stream of lanterns in one shot if you miss.
Good work anyways, waiting for more.

Almakos responds:

Thank you! More to come ;)

Not really fun , or even a game for that matter.
The objective wasn't even properly explained, let alone the controls.
You should make games that are actually fun to play.
Mainly I'm just upset that you used 6 MB for this little "game".

Little-Rena responds:

It's all the code

Disappointing, even for a Stencyl game.
There is no clear objective and even mindless slashing for 30 seconds gets on my nerves.
You can't change the direction of attack and the hitboxes are improper.
I know you didn't plan on winning the Jam but can you compare this with any other Stencyl games ?
I'm sorry but you need to make games that people enjoy playing rather than with the sole objective of winning a Jam - that will actually help you to win.

WOW! An RPG game in under 1MB !
This reminds me of the classic ASCII RPG games (<20KB in size)

This wasn't too shabby, the intention was good.
But otherwise, the game felt like a platformer, not an RPG.
The music felt like a terrible mix of all SNES games, it made my ears bleed.
The animation was minimal and not to my taste.
The movement was really clunky, and the character sticks to the wall in mid jump.
The bullets gaining speed didn't appeal to me at all.

This wasn't bad at all but you need to add more elements to the game, to make it worth playing.
Good luck !

WOW! I can't begin to imagine how much work you put into this.
This game is one of the best shooters i've ever played.
How did you manage to fit this game into just 13 MB ?
The engine is a real beauty.
The destruction and ragdoll physics are amazing.
The sounds are also very real.
The environments are well thought of, although small in size.
The AI is really good - better than most bots in Counter Strike anyways.

I really want you to make a multiplayer version of this, and charge people to play it.
Now, that is a game I would pay for.
Keep up the good work and enjoy the success !

Here's some advice:
Over the top difficulty will ALWAYS turn a gem into a piece of crap.
That's exactly what happened here. At the end of just 7 levels, I've cursed atleast a hundred times and I'm saying "Thank god it's over!"

The game was made with good intentions and with a lot of hard work.
The backgrounds were amazing and so was the music.
The character animations were well done and all the powerups were well thought of.

The only problem with the game is that the sheer difficulty makes it really frustrating.
The last three levels made my blood boil.
The occasional hints when you die often were helpful but when you're frustrated. it seems really stupid.
Tone that down (a lot) and we have a nice , fun to play game.
Good Luck !

OONi responds:

Thank you for you review. Indeed, we tested and re-tested the game, but apparently our testers were pro players. We promise our next game will be more "digestible".

Hey guys, I'm a hardcore gamer , an NG loyalist and a total medal junkie. Sometimes I like to program flash games for fun, so PM me if you need any help with something and if I'm free, i'll be sure to help out.
