That was quite a chilling game! A welcome change from the dime-a-dozen jump scare games.
Firstly, the sounds were used very well and were responsible for most of the atmosphere.
The music was also good, especially at the beginning.
This style reminded me awfully of Gyossait and the story reminded me of the movie Sunshine.
You executed the sense of being all alone and helpless really well.

Also, I felt the walking animation could have been better, the speed is fine for this kind of a game.
17 MB is a lot for a game so simple. I've seen games with better graphics taking up half this size. It may seem very silly for most people but it's a great problem for others with slow internet. It took me 20 minutes to get this game to load fully. :-(
Medals always make a game more enjoyable, you didn't disappoint there.

All in all, a great piece of work. Expecting more bone chilling games soon.
Cheers !

EventHorizon responds:

I'm sorry for the size of the game, but these 17MB are the fault of the high quality graphics, but especially of the audio that I edited to make it better, anyway thanks for your great review! ;)

Not a bad game really... Just heavily unbalanced.
The character movement is alright and the frustration involved is also characteristic of games like this.
But the infamous 3rd level makes you rage and frankly it's not worth starting from the start point all over again.
There is a very narrow zone between too easy and too hard, that's where all the 4+ star games lie. You just need to find that and you're good.
Best of luck!

Intrapath responds:

Yep, you're right about the balance of difficulty; especially from the shift from the 2nd to 3rd level; I've learned my lesson about invisible levels. :P maybe next time I could have them fade between visible and invisible every few seconds so people could make a mental map, that may be more fun, I'll see. Thanks for taking the time to play and review!

Great work with this game!
It certainly looked like one of the hundreds of poorly coded Dare submissions with crappy graphics but you really proved me wrong with this one.
The concept is really good, and I like that you put Chrome above Firefox.
The game is coded well, I like how the enemies never spawn on platforms lower than you and the platforms are spaced too far apart.
The bosses made this game challenging and really fun. Restarting at the boss platform if you die, is a good idea. It cuts down on the frustration.
The music is perfect for this particular game and the level environments are also apt.
The jumps could be tweaked a little into tight curves rather than the long jumps they are now.

Thanks for the medals by the way.
This is pretty awesome work in 72 hours. Keep it up.

Good game.
I've played 60s Burger Run and frankly I liked that one better.
This one pushes the level of challenge too far. It stops being fun beyond that point.
Otherwise, I liked the music and changing backgrounds.
The medals were cheeky like always - I enjoyed the medal descriptions.
I experienced a little lag also, that was quite frustrating.
Next time please set the difficulty at least to the Burger Run level.

Pretty good game.
Although extremely simple, it was fun enough to occupy my mind for a few minutes.
Most of the endings require repetitive action and it gets tiring after some time.
There are a few spelling mistakes like "baised" instead of biased, but that's alright.

I confess that I played all the way for the medals only. By the way, how do you get the endings "Worker" and "Some How Late" ?

amidos2006 responds:

The coming text is Spoiler:

Worker just talk to only one of the two tribes and then leave that island

Some How Late: start killing some people of the opposite tribe (but not all of them) then leave the island using your boat :)

Not bad, but could be much better.
The concept was good and I liked the music but that's about it.
Constantly hearing the annoying voice drove me crazy. You should have used something soothing.
I don't think anyone would be able to finish this without the walkthrough or a full day to spare.
The skeleton finger part had me at first, but then I read your comment below and finished it.

Maybe next time you could make a dark, seedy and more disgusting game. And please, no annoying voice chatter!
Cheers.

Good game!
I never thought a simple game like this could be made so diverse with so many modes.
You put a lot of work into the coding and the mode descriptions.
The medal descriptions are funny and I enjoyed them.
But, I unlocked 7 of them, they all pop up on the screen but they don't register with Newgrounds. Could you fix that?

Great job. I hope to see more games from you in the future.

VictorGrunn responds:

Thank you very much for the feedback!

First, about the medals. I'm not sure what could possibly be wrong there, but I'll look into it. It may be related to the game currently being under review, but if not, it should be trivial to fix - I'll ask around. Thanks for tipping me off about it!

I'm glad you liked the diversity and the writing of it. If you liked this game, there's another (not by me, but it inspired me here) called Snakes on a Cartesian Plane that you should check out. Very similar concept, but it uses the base game of Snake rather than a shooter like I did.

This feels like a great game. If only it would be complete.
It's like an art game with a pinch of Pokemon gameplay in it.
The dystopic nature of the world is impressive, and so are the messages ("This is your god" etc.).
The sounds are very basic, some more of those are definitely needed.
I didn't expect the demo to end so abruptly after I got a hang of it, so I was disappointed.
Oh, a hint for the secret medal would be appreciated.

I really hope you finish this. Cheers!

Ah Nostalgia! Great game dude!
It reminded me of Leisure Suit Larry 2 , where he gets a full body wax , like Gravedrone said below.
I only wish this had mature content as well... I'm cutting half a star because of that
The classic animation and slapstick humor was enjoyable.
The smiling and frowning elevator (with that music) was trippy.

Some of the levels were too hard for me though, like the single wax strip mini-game.
I wasn't able to complete normal mode even after 10 play-throughs.
I guess I better keep trying then..
The medals were an excellent addition, thanks for those.

I hope you make plenty of games like this in the future, but with adult content please.
Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm a hardcore gamer , an NG loyalist and a total medal junkie. Sometimes I like to program flash games for fun, so PM me if you need any help with something and if I'm free, i'll be sure to help out.
